லண்டனில் வசிக்கும் இலங்கைத் தமிழ் இளைஞன் ஒருவருடன் பேஸ்புக் மூலம் காதல் தொடர்பினை ஏற்படுத்திக் கொண்ட தமிழ் மாணவி ஒருவர் தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டுள்ளார். வத்தளை பிரதேசத்தைச் சேர்ந்த 16 வயது பாடசாலை மாணவி ஒருவரே இவ்வாறு தற்கொலை செய்து உயிரை மாய்த்துக் கொண்டுள்ளார்.
வெள்ளவத்தையில் அமைந்துள்ள பிரபல தமிழ் பாடசாலை ஒன்றில் குறித்த மாணவி 11 ஆம் தரத்தில் கல்வி கற்று வந்ததாக விசாரணைகளின் மூலம் தெரிய வந்துள்ளது. யாழ்ப்பாணத்தைப் பிறப்பிடமாகக் கொண்டவரும் தற்போது லண்டனில் வசித்து வருபவருமான 19 வயது இளைஞர் ஒருவருடன் இணையம் ஊடாக காதல் தொடர்பினை ஏற்படுத்திக் கொண்ட குறித்த மாணவி இறுதியில் தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டுள்ளார்.
காதல் தோல்வியில் ஏற்பட்ட விரக்தி நிலைமையே இந்த தற்கொலைக்கான காரணம் எனத் தெரிவிக்கப்படுகிறது.
கடந்த ஆறு மாதங்களாக பேஸ்புக் மூலம் இருவரும் தொடர்புகளைப் பேணி வந்துள்ளதாகக் குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறது. கடந்த ஆகஸ்ட் மாதம் 2 ஆம் திகதி குறித்த மாணவர் இலங்கைக்கு விஜயம் செய்திருந்ததாகவும் அப்போது மாணவியின் வீட்டுக்கும் அவர் சென்றிருந்ததாகவும் தெரிவிக்கப்படுகிறது.
இலங்கையிலிருந்து லண்டன் சென்றது முதல் குறித்த மாணவியை அந்த இளைஞர் நிராகரிக்கத் தொடங்கியதாகவும் இதனால் மாணவி உள ரீதியாக பாதிக்கப்பட்டதாகவும் குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறது.இணையமூடாக தொடர்பு கொள்ள முற்பட்ட போதிலும் இளைஞர் அவற்றை நிராகரித்த காரணத்தினால் மாணவி தூக்கிட்டு தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டுள்ளதாக தகவல்கள் வெளியாகி உள்ளன.

16-year-old student committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan at home in Hendala, Wattala with her mother’s saree early this week.
The girl, a grade 11 student of a Tamil school in Wellawatte, had been scorned by a male she met on the Facebook which led to her taking her own life tragically.The girl who operated a Facebook profile had befriended a 19-year-old male hailing from Jaffna and now living in London. He had been in the habit of sending her messages of love via the Facebook for the past six months. On August 2 he had visited Sri Lanka to look up his parents and had visited the girl’s home in the absence of the rest who worked in their family shop situated at Elakanda, Hendala. According to a relative, the youngster from England had avoided the girl after the visit and gone back to England after his short trip.
The girl, who had tried messaging him, found no response and had been moping ever since in silence that proved her undoing. On the night of August 17 returning home around 9.30 from the shop, the family found her hanging from the ceiling fan with the aid of her mother’s saree. They rushed her to Ragama hospital with the help of the police where she died after admission.
At the post mortem conducted by JMO Ragama Dr. SMPD Rajapaksa it was revealed that death was due to hanging.
The inquirer into sudden deaths Ragama ordered that the body be buried and not to be cremated. PC 28516 Ariyaratne of Wattala police led the evidence.
